Bamboo is highly appreciated as an alternative material to wood because of the unique grain and color. It offers warmth and beauty and an inherent strength that can withstand a great deal of use without damage. Stronger than maple, bamboo is a great option for counters in kitchens and workspaces.
But more importantly bamboo is an endless renewable resource. The incredibly fast growth cycles make it an environmentally sound and sustainable alternative choice. Unlike traditional hardwoods, which are harvested every 40 to 60 years, bamboo can be harvested every 3 to 5 years. In addition, the broad root structure helps to stabilize the soil and prevent erosion thereby benefiting the environment in which it grows.
Our counters are made from 100% bamboo strips which are boiled in a non toxic solution to insure that they are pest free. The strips are then laminated using the highest quality European adhesives with the lowest emissions which exceed the standard requirements.
The finished product is available in two colors.
Natural — light and similar to maple
Carbonized — a light, warm brown
This is achieved by a process of pressure heating the fibers which cause the natural sugars in the bamboo to caramelize into a beautiful permanent caramel color.
